bear

Although I think this is also mere approximation.
Pronunciation of kamui is "kamuy" in Ainu.

"By the way, what is word of bear in Ainu?”
I will also think so.
But word of bear in Ainu seems to not exist.

"kim-un-kamuy.”
Apparently there is this word instead.
This seems to mean mountain god.

"God dwells in all things in nature."
But having said that, this seems the name based on its idea of Ainu.
Rather than the presence of the bear is very special.

"God dwells in all things in nature."
Incidentally this might be idea common to the Japanese.
(Although there will be the strength of its idea.)

・・・・・・・・・

There is place name "高麗" in Japan.
This word is pronounced "koma". (こま)

In fact,高麗 is a country that existed in Korea. (918~1392)
In this case, this word is pronounced usually as "Kōrai". (こうらい)
高麗 was unified dynasty of the Korean Peninsula.

Prior to that,高句麗 was present as northern dynasty of the Korean Peninsula. (BC~668)
This word is pronounced usually as "Kōkuri". (こうくり)

And country of this two are sometimes called koma.

But having said that, koma seems to had a sense as the Korean peninsula at Japan in first place.
Rather than the country name.

And people who came to Japan from its region.
They seem to have is also called "koma".
