financial resources

"The enemy might raid to the Sendai city directly."

The about 15 km south of the Sendai city.
There is Arahama there.
Abukuma river leading to the sea there.

Hirakata was a main port of that time japanese ships.
The about 150 km north from there.
Next main port was Arahama.

・・・・・・・・・

And there was a thing to be concerned about further.
The about 20 km northeast of the Sendai city.
There is Ishinomaki Bay there.
Kitakami river leading to the sea there.
(It is a tributary now by the flood control work.)

Ishinomaki was the base port of export of rice in Sendai clan.
In this era,it became base port in the northern Ōu region.
Storage facilities had been developed.
Army provisions had been accumulate here.
And defense facility of Ishinomaki Bay was not enough at that time.

"We celebrates Imperial prince in the Sendai city."
Also they had this plan.

"Our troops are concentrated in front now.
This is bad."

・・・・・・・・・

Another serious problems were present.
Season was early summer.
Shipment of rice was over already.

This period, therefore rice was not left much to the rice storage warehouse.
It was natural.
But it was still a large amount.

New Year beginning of this year, there was a battle of Toba Fushimi.
(Lunar calendar)

"Subdue Aizu."
Mid-January,there was this instruction to the Sendai clan.

・・・・・・・・・

Lords territory and the Edo city.
Nationwide lords lived in shifts by one year for the security of the Tokugawa regime.
This system was called ”Sankin kotai”.

There was a vassal to them naturally.
As result the Edo city was a population of 1 million people or more.

But this system was became titular already.
Population of Edo dropped dramatically.
And the Edo city became the enemy territory.

Main financial resources of their was collapsed.
